2015 — COMMERCIAL/ HEALTH FOOD RESTAURANT
Happy + Hale, a health-conscious restaurant concept, expanded into Durham’s Ninth Street shopping and dining district, filling a 2000 square feet renovated space within an existing building. Yoga Off East inhabits the rear 375 square feet. Known for using only wholesome ingredients to prepare its food, the design concept aims to complement Happy + Hale's method, using simple, honest materials for the physical space: concrete, wood, and open web steel trusses. An overhead white-washed pine canopy with integrated lighting mirrors entering, ordering, and circulation below. A void in the canopy allows natural light into the framed open space for dining and gathering.
